Dear Friend of Tacoma Youth Theatre,
Please donate to the next phase of our reopening campaign so TYT can begin programming. We need to raise $7000.00 to pay for taxes, rent, licenses, insurance, staff compensation, monthly utilities, and some minor repairs. We need these structures in place to begin enrollment for upcoming productions (see below).
Thank You!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to our initial round of fundraising! We received a total of 14 donations totaling $5800.00. That support allowed us to secure our space, and move forward on our non-profit journey. Special thanks to Pennie Saum and our fiscal sponsor THE BRAVE AND UNBROKEN PROJECT. Also, a big THANK YOU to P.J. Pedroni for sharing his passion for TYT’s Mission with prospective donors. Finally, we thank YOU for continuing to believe in the mission of Tacoma Youth Theatre.
Upcoming Programming
Once the next phase of funding is secured, Tacoma Youth Theatre will begin operations with a spring break camp of J.M Barrie’s PETER PAN, April 1-5 (9am – 4pm), with performances April 6 & 7 at 2pm. Next TYT will hold at least two sessions of after-school programming leading into a series of one-week camps throughout the summer.
Building TYT’s Future
On January 26th, the state of Washington issued Tacoma Youth Theatre articles of incorporation as a nonprofit corporation. We have secured a new federal EIN number for the corporation and hope to obtain federal nonprofit 501(C)3 status soon. On stage, new LED lighting equipment and new dimmers (all purchased prior to the pandemic closure) have been installed – increasing our production capabilities and lowering our operational costs. The next stop on our journey will be setting up a new financial structure, new merchant services for easy tuition payments, new insurance, and a new, diverse Board of Directors for the organization. Maggie Knott will continue in her capacity as Artistic Director. Scott Campbell, as a co-founder, will continue his support and involvement. We are excited and eager to get started.
While tuition and performances have historically provided the cash flow needed to maintain very basic operations, the pandemic shed light on our need to be more resilient, with multiple income streams and more platforms for learning. Moving forward, we will actively work toward increased financial stability by securing more grants and taking an on-going, focused approach to our fundraising efforts. This will allow the organization to better serve the all-important mission of Tacoma Youth Theatre for diverse young artists in the years to come,
